Children shine at ‘Children’s Festival 2015’

First  Fleet Park in the Rocks  was brimming with tiny tots from different ethnicities dressed up in colorful attires and painted faces , as it was Children’s Festival 2015.

It was a fantastic showcase of different cultures and ethnicities by the children who were dressed in beautiful traditional outfits, thus showcasing the co-existence of multiculturalism in Australia.

Though the Children’s festival has been running annually in Bankstown since 1999, but it was for the second consecutive year that Children’s Festival Organization (CFO) held   this festival in Sydney city.

The hide and seek by clouds even couldn’t stop the children from participating in the festival.

Many activities including  Children’s  Parade , Drumming workshop , Children Painting , Poster competition , Under 5’s corner , Face painting , Coloring –in-form , Art drawing , Bamboo pool dancing , Lantern and kite making , Hands on creative activities , Scavenger Hunt etc were a part of the celebration.

Traditional costume display and Children lion dance workshop were the other highlights of the festival

The occasion was attended by many parliamentarians including Victor Dominello MP , Minister for Citizenship and Communities, Senator  Concetta Fierravanti-Wells, Philip Ruddock ,  Clover Moore , Lord Mayor of Sydney and others.

Victor Dominello expressed his pleasure to attend the festival and congratulated the organizing committee for organizing the event.

“This festival brings together children and families from right across our multicultural communities, offering a range of entertaining activities which promote understanding and respect for people of different cultures”.

“Such festivals have a powerful impact on the way children think about the value of inter-cultural tolerance and respect”.

Philip Ruddock also appreciated the organizing committee for organizing the event.

Mark Burfield , Co-chair CFO  said that for the first time the festival has been recognized  as a state-level event  thus fulfilling the vision of CFO founder , Thuat Nguyen .

He further said that these Children’s festivals are truly community based and promote multiculturalism.

In his address Thuat V .Nguyen OAM, founder of this festival said, “We strongly believe that the Children’s Festival is one of the best ways to create harmony in our community as well as to make us feel proud of being Australians”.

“Another delightful fact is the enthusiastic participation of so many schools and community youth groups in the children’s parade and in the on‐stage performances. The success of our Children’s Festival over the last 16 years has proved that it meets the expectations of our community in so many ways. Our experience with The Children’s Festival has shown that this event is contributing to a more cohesive society and promoting peace in our community”.

“The organizing committee was delighted with the overwhelming response from the children, their families and their schools as nearly 250 entries were received for the festival”.

He also thanked the NSW Government for their support.
