Allan Davis from Crowdy Head Surf Life Saving Club was named the NSW Lifesaver of the Year for the 2013/14 season at the annual Surf Life Saving NSW Awards of Excellence proudly presented by Stramit Building Products on Saturday.
The 41 year old has been a passionate and dedicated member of Crowdy Head SLSC since joining in 1988. Allan was awarded Life Membership of Crowdy Head during the 2013-14 season and as Club President, led Crowdy Head through their most successful season in over a decade.
Allan had some simple advice for those wondering how he stays motivated to volunteer so much of his time.
“Surf lifesaving gives me a chance to really get my hands dirty and help make a difference to people’s lives and that makes it easy to stay motivated to be a volunteer.
“We’re all one big happy family at surf and I could never be named the lifesaver of the year without the support of my wife and the Crowdy Head Surf Life Saving Club,” said Mr Davis.
As well as this prestigious award, Allan has also been awarded Surf Life Saving Lower North Coast Most Valuable Contribution for 2013 and the Harrington Crowdy Head Chamber of Commerce Australia Day Award for Sports Person of the Year, in recognition of his service to Crowdy Head SLSC.
Allan is a Surf Life Saving Lower North Coast Duty Officer as well as the current Director of Administration and a volunteer with the SLS Lower North Coast Support Operations team. He also represented members of the Lower North Coast Branch at the Education Think Tank in April 2014.
Allan is an integral member of Crowdy Head SLSC and the Lower North Coast Branch and is exceptionally deserving of the title of Surf Lifesaver of the Year.
More than 280 of Surf Life Saving’s most outstanding lifesavers, athletes, coaches and administrators gathered to celebrate the enormous contribution of volunteers and clubs from across NSW for the 2014 SLSNSW Awards of Excellence proudly presented by Stramit Building Products.
