Commonwealth Bank’s Migrant Financial Services team including Kavita Shukla and Ed Box organized an exclusive evening with two great cricket legends, Glenn McGrath and Brian Lara, at Novotel , Parramatta on March 23 which was attended by many people from Indian community.
With the world cup fever in full swing, many such pop-up events are being held in the host cities both in Australia and New Zealand.
The stage came to life with presence of legendary cricketers Brian Lara and Glenn McGrath .
At the outset, a brief description of their background was read out. During the Question-Answer session, right from sharing their childhood memories to the various important moments of their life and obviously their cricket career- Glenn McGrath and Brian Lara answered each and every question very patiently.
Someone from the audience even asked them a question whether they were ever approached by Bookies and whether they were ever stopped by Cops for speeding etc. They also put forth their views about three different forms of Cricket and described as how every form has its own relevance. Though that said that T20 variety has made the game very popular and brought many spectators.
They answered all the questions with a great sense of humor.
Cricket is something which cannot be separated from the Indians and a time when world cup is there, how can they stop themselves from asking questions related to World Cup.
As India is going to play against Australia in World Cup 2015 semi-finals, so the Indians living in Australia are quite enthusiastic about it. Brain Lara supported the Indian team for the semi-finals whereas McGrath was very much optimistic about team Australia.
Giving a nice end to the evening interaction, on a lighter side, Brian Lara himself said that he was expecting a question from the audience as what if he gets married to Bollywood actress Lara Dutta , she would then be Lara Lara and the hall resounded with laughter.
It was fun-filled evening , with plenty of selfies .From serious topics to funny moments, the audience were entertained with an evening full of comedy and fond memories, as they were taken on a journey of Brian Lara and Glenn McGrath’s career .
